Gauhati University B.Ed Admission 2025: Your Complete Guide

Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic background: BA/BSc/BCom/MA/MSc/MCom with min. 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD) 
  • Age limit: No upper or lower age limit 
  • Attempts: allowed No restriction on number of attempts 
  • Domicile: Permanent residents of Assam required

Application Process

  • Go to the Samarth admissions website.
  • Create a new user account and provide a working phone number and email address.
  • Under UG programs, choose "Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)."
  • Enter your academic and personal information.
  • Upload scanned copies of your certificate, degree marksheet, and photo.
  • The application fee is ₹2,000 plus bank fees.
  • Download a copy for your records after submitting the form.

Selection Process

  • Based on the GUBEDCET exam (100 MCQs, total 400 marks).
  • Scores: +4 marks correct, –1 for wrong answers.
  • Minimum qualifying cutoffs: General: 80 marks, Reserved: 60 marks

Merit is based on entrance score and academic record; final admission also depends on document verification.

  • Mark sheets for grades 10 and 12
  • Mark sheet and graduation degree
  • GUBEDCET scorecard and admit card (when available)
  • A passport-sized photo and your signature
  • PwD or caste certificate (if applicable)

Reservation Policy

Gauhati University follows the rules of the state of Assam, which include reservations for SC, ST (Hills/Plains), OBC/MOBC, PwD, NCC, ex-defence, university staff, fringe village quotas, and more. Relaxation in eligibility marks to 45%.

Can final-year grads apply?
Yep. If you're awaiting final-year results, you can still apply—you’ll have to submit marks later.
Is there a negative marking?
Yes—Correct answers will receive 4 marks, while incorrect answers will deduct 1 mark. Unanswered questions are not penalised.
Is domicile mandatory?
Yes, only Assam domicile holders are eligible.
